Assessment and Evaluation picture

The Assessment and Evaluation Department's mission is to raise student achievement for all students while simultaneously closing all identifiable achievement gaps by providing timely and accurate data about student performance on district, state and federal assessments.

 

The Assessment and Evaluation Department also provides support for and is responsible for district, state and federally mandated assessments. STAR, CST, CAPA, CAHSEE, FITNESSGRAM, CAT- 6, Grade 4 and Grade 7 Writing Test, STS (Standards Test in Spanish), and NAEP assessments are administered from this office. Information regarding current and future benchmark and end-of-course assessments can also be found here.

 

Please use the information provided here to help meet the academic achievement targets we have set for all students and schools.

Group Announcements
2008 August to December CAHSEE Calendar Available 
The 2008 August - December CAHSEE calender is available in the Site Test Coordinator Information folder found in the section titled Group Files. This calendar provides district and site administrators the opportunity to plan their schedules accordinly.

2008 July to December CAHSEE Directions for Administration Available 
The CAHSEE Directions for Administration manual is available in the Site Test Coordinator Information folder found in the section titled Group Files. This manual provides teachers and other school personnel the directions for administration and a specific script to be read to students taking the CAHSEE. July - December 2008.

2008 July to December CAHSEE Test Site Coordinator's Manual Available 
The CAHSEE District and Test Site Coordinator's Manual is available in the Site Test Coordinator Information folder found in the section titled Group Files. This document will provide school based administrators and CAHSEE test coordinators important information about how to prepare, how to administer and how to return the California High School Exit Examination.

CAHSEE Security Forms Available 
All school district personnel who have access to CAHSEE testing materials must sign a CAHSEE Security Affidavit. CAHSEE security forms are available in the STAR Coordinator Information folder found in the section titled Group Files. Principals are required to maintain a school site file of signed CAHSEE Security Affidavits for all of their school staff. CAHSEE Testing Coordinators must send a signed CAHSEE Coordinator Security Affidavit on file in the CVUSD Assessment and Evaluation Office.
CAHSEE Released Items Provided By CDE 
In October 2006, the California Department of Education released additional math and English Language Arts assessment items from previous test administrations. Reviewing these released items with students can improve their chances of passing CAHSEE. Released items documents can be found in GROUP FILES section in the CAHSEE folder.

ACT - American College Test
This link will take you to the ACT - American College Test - website. The ACT is one of the assessments college and university admissions offices usually require to apply for admission.
Adequate Yearly Progress - AYP
This link will take you to the California Department of Education website for AYP information. AYP is required by the federal No Child Left Behind Act; AYP measures the performance of California schools and districts.
California Alternate Performance Assessment - CAPA
This link will take you to the California Department of Education website for CAPA information. CAPA is an alternate assessment for children with disabilities who cannot participate in general statewide assessment programs administered under STAR.
California High School Exit Examination - CAHSEE
This link will take you to the California Department of Education website for CAHSEE. Information is availble to provide assistance for students and schools with the administration of the CAHSEE
DataQuest
This link will take you to the California Department of Education website for Data Quest. Data Quest is a tool to create or access summary reports that are available through DataQuest including; API; AYP; Course Enrollments; Dropouts; CELDT; English Learner; Enrollment; Expulsions; Graduates; CAHSEE; High School ACT, SAT and Advanced Placement; Physical Fitness Results; Staffing; Special Education; and STAR.

The Edusoft Resource link contains important announcements, educator links, quick reference guides, and step-by-step instructions for teachers and administrators. You will also be able to submit Edusoft training requests for your site to Rick Riedel.
Physical Fitness Testing - PFT - Fitnessgram
This link will take you to the California Department of Education website for PFT information. This site provides information regarding the physical fitness test required to be administered to students in grades 5, 7, and 9.
PSAT - Preliminary SAT
This link will take you to the College Board website for the PSAT. This website will provide you information about the PSAT and the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test and programs. The PSAT is a practice test for the SAT that can be taken in grade 10 and/or grade 11.
SAT - Scholastic Aptitude Test
This link will take you to the College Board website for the SAT. The SAT is one of the assessments college and university admissions offices usually require to apply for admission.
Standardized Testing and Reporting - STAR
This link will take you to the California Department of Education website for STAR information. This page provides data on state, county, local district and local school student performance on STAR assessments. Assessment Blueprints, Guides, Released Test Questions, Assistance Packets as well as updates can all be accessed.
